Recovering a formated Mini DV tape

Hi Folks,

Well I'm just SICK, I was trying to copy the video from my Mini DV camcorder
into my computer for editing and apparently I clicked the wrong button and
recorded blankness back to the Mini DV tape. (I forgot to slide the Rec/Save
tab on the tape). Anyway, now when I play the Mini DV tape back it's just as
blank as when it was new. Is there anyway to recover what was on this tape?
Any companies anyone knows of?

Thanks,
Brian

"My video tapes were recorded over accidentally, can my recordings be
recovered?

Generally, in the recording process, any previously recorded material is
erased by circuits that scramble the magnetic fields on the tape to allow
new information to be recorded. Unfortunately, in most cases, the old
material is gone forever."

I appears you could be out of luck on this one. Sorry.

Unfortunately the fact it's DV will not save you from the inevitable
outcome, like any VHS tape, once you've erased it there's no way back.
Sorry.

You are S.O.L.

Now that you've experienced THAT particular nightmare, here's what you do.

Sit down and READ THE MANUAL that came with your camera, NLE, Recorder etc.
There's really no excuse for a mistake like that. But I'll bet that you
never do it again.
